Recently, my family got home from a beautiful trip to Florida. While being there, I realized how nice it is to have warmth all year around. We went for walks, exercised outside, and enjoyed the sun so much. When I got home, reality set in. It was 30 degrees, and snowing (cue the tears)!
To be honest though, I still believe Michigan is the most beautiful state. Even with the snow, and the cold temperatures, I still am amazed by the beauty of our winters. Yes, it might be cold, but wow- we do live in a beautiful state. I've gathered some of my family's favorite things to do in the winter, and I thought I would share them here with you!
Here's our top 5 things to do in the Michigan winters...
1. Ski/Snowboarding at Mount BRIGHTON
If you live in Livingston County, or even the surrounding areas, Mount BRIGHTON is the place to be! Not only is it a super fun activity for kids and parents alike, but it's also a great way to get outdoors! Bundle up, grab your family, and enjoy a day hitting the slopes!
2. Snow Tubing in Ingham County
If you've never been snow tubing... you're missing out! It is by far my favorite winter activities! In Ingham County, there is a snow tubing business. Check them out if you're interested!
3. Plymouth Ice Festival
Although there will be restrictions this year, the Plymouth Ice Festival is still on the books for taking place during Valentines Weekend! If you havn't seen these sculptures... get ready because they are incredible! Take a walk through downtown Plymouth, grab a coffee, and enjoy the beautiful artwork made completley from ice.
4. Visit The Famous "Frozen Waterfalls"
This next one requires a bit of a drive, but let me tell you... it's worth it! Take a drive north and discover the beautiful water falls of michigan, but make it frozen! Your kids might actually feel like they are in a movie, because the sights are incredible! There are many falls you can travel to, but the most popular are typically Picture Rocks. Bring a camera with you because these are STUNNING!
5. Spend A Day at FRANKENMUTH
If you've lived in Michigan for even a little while, you've probably heard of FRANKENMUTH. It's a popular Christmas location- but it's really enchanting at all times of the year! FRANKENMUTH has shopping, dining, festivals, and other great activites planned all winter long. Be sure to visit FRANKENMUTH and enjoy a day away exploring this beautiful place.
